We had a very special delivery today in K.N.S!
Our new Buddy Bench arrived.
Sometimes called a friendship bench, these benches are provided on school playgrounds as a way for students to signal to others that they are feeling lonely and isolated and need a friend to play with or someone to talk to. The bench allows other children on the playground to clearly see when another kid needs support or a friend, and they can join them on the bench for a chat or invite them to play. In a sense, the buddy bench is more than just a simple piece of furniture. It is part of a wider programme aimed at boosting empathy and self-awareness among children, as well as giving children the tools to promote empathy and positive mental health.
This has been on the wish list for quite a a while now so a huge ‘THANK YOU’ for this very kind donation to the school which funded the Buddy Bench earlier this year. Thanks so much for your hard work and kindness ___ and also for thinking of your school and your friends.
After much deliberation, our bench has been strategically placed between both our junior and senior yards!!!!. It will be a nice addition to our school playground, and it will be great for promoting friendship and empathy.
