'Literacy Lift-Off'!
'Literacy Lift Off' programme which has been very successful in Kildimo National School continues each year with all Classes.
The 'Literacy Lift Off' initiative gives parents the opportunity to read daily with their children
Children take home a new book every day.
Literacy Lift Off is an intensive intervention of Reading and Writing that gives children lots of opportunities to read books at their own level of competency and gradually lift the complexity of what they can do in both reading and writing.
Staff from the SEN team work in the classroom every day with the class teacher for six weeks in five ten-minute, rotating sessions focusing on a range of literacy activities.
These activities include:
- re-reading familiar books to build fluency and confidence
- being introduced to, and attempting to read a new book
- composing and recording their own messages
- exploring how words work using magnetic letters and whiteboard
Maths for Fun
Maths for fun is chance for parents to get involved in school life and take part in Maths Stations for Four Weeks in their child's classroom. It is always a fantastic time for all and we love to see it taking place each year.
School Uniforms - Éadaí Scoile
The school uniform is a tracksuit and children are expected to be in full tracksuit each day in school.
Please have name on uniforms! When it gets lost it will be found easily. Otherwise..........!
