Parents Association
All parents/guardians are members of the PA. We are fortunate to have supportive parents in our school. We work collaboratively and the positive relations between school and staff have meant many new additions, initiatives and resources for our school for the benefit of all pupils.
Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together.
The Parent Association is the structure through which parents/guardians in a school can work together for the best possible education for their children and is a support for parents in the school.
The Parent Association works with the principal, staff and the board of management to build effective partnership of home and school. We are delighted to be working with Sinead O'Donoghue, Bernie O'Sullivan and Cathy O'Connor, our lead representatives of the parent body for 2023/2024.
Parent Associations can suggest and/or organise extra-curricular activities.
The Parent Association can invite speakers to address the parents on issues which are topical or relevant.
The Parent Association is not a forum for complaint against either an individual teacher or parent. The Complaints Procedure is the mechanism for this.
DES funding of schools is entirely inadequate to pay for the cost of running a school. In order to meet our commitments and finance new initiatives, fundraising is a necessary part of school life. We really appreciate the support shown by parents over the years and also by staff to endeavour to maintain and progress our school.
NPC offers training for new parent associations on the role and functions of a Parent Association and if you decide to go ahead with this, we will be delighted to facilitate you. Please contact Sharon Hopkins on 01-8874475 or email: training@npc.ie
